I was at the Modified Nationals Car Show recently and stumbled upon a stage where a fire breathing act was about to begin. These black and white photographs are the result of me being in the right place at the right time with my camera in hand and I’m really pleased with them.
I managed to capture the fire in mid-air by using a fast shutter speed, shot at f2.8 to blur the background and converted them to black and white in Adobe Lightroom. I liked the colour versions too with the flames bright orange but the black and white’s stood out a little more for me.
I’ve been doing more and more photography lessons recently and one of the key things I am teaching is to actually get yourself out there with your camera and find things that interest you to shoot. You won’t get better without practicing.
I do like it when I get lucky!
