It has long been an ambition of mine to do a mermaid photoshoot, I love the legend behind these mystical sea temptresses and I’d thought about doing it for such a long time, but was a little apprehensive about the fact it would be all too easy for it to end up looking a little cheesy. I decided on our most recent Cornwall photography holiday that we’d have a go at it and with Rhian’s help, we spent the month before the trip putting together our mermaid outfit.
On the day it all went wrong, the top we’d put together from dragon scales was too heavy and fell off the model in the middle of a public beach, luckily for me Shannon didn’t bat an eyelid, covered herself up and carried on the shoot, a true example of why we try and find the best models for our trips! I’m delighted with how these images turned out, not too Disney like, just about the right amount of darkness. Mermaid photoshoot, in the bag.
