FAQ’s
Where will this course take place?
This course will be ran throughout Southampton. If you live or work centrally I’m happy to run this course at your premises, otherwise we’ll run it on the streets of Southampton giving you every opportunity to get a hands on practical experience.
Do I Need Certain Skills Or Equipment To Attend?
This is a beginners course and as such, no skills are required to attend this course. The only equipment you will need to bring with you is your DSLR or Mirrorless camera and lenses.
Can You Recommend Camera Equipment For Me Prior To Me Attending?
I get a lot of requests for help with camera equipment recommendations, almost daily in fact and offer a Personalised Photography Equipment Recommendation service which you can find by clicking here.
Recommending a camera and the best lenses to buy really has lots of different factors involved in it which need to be investigated first such as what the equipment will be most used for, budgets, your expectations on image quality, your current level and aspirations, etc. Hence the above service so we can really drill down into finding you the best equipment.
Alternatively, some people attend my courses and borrow a camera from me for the day to do so, we can then incorporate this recommendation as part of the course at no extra cost. The benefit of doing it this way is that I have a lot of cameras and lenses you can try and see the difference between prior to purchasing anything. The downside is your not learning on your own equipment of course, so there are pluses and minuses to doing it both ways, it depends on what you think works best for you.
Are You DBS Checked?

Robert –
A fantastic 2 days spent with a very talented videographer who taught me more in a couple of days than i’d managed to learn on my own over numerous years previously. An investment that was well worth the money, thank you Paul.
Neville B –
What an amazing video course this was with Paul, he was very well prepared, teaches in such an easy to understand manner and delivered a course that was well received from all involved. Paul just explains what to do and what happens when you do it without all the technical jargon, so you really feel like you understand how you can implement it all yourself. This course was beyond my expectations,it ticked all of our boxes for what we were hoping to get out of it and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves too.
Leon Roy –
I was extremely impressed with just how much I managed to learn in 2 days. I felt like I went from not really knowing anything about the camera to producing a video of which I was quite proud of to be honest in no time at all. Paul is more than just a good videographer, he is a great teacher and that isn’t always easy to find. He explained all his ideas and techniques in a very simple way which meant I could follow along with no hassle at all. His worksheets are excellent meaning if I did forget anything, I have it all written down. But to be honest, I don’t think I will, we practiced it all so much it feels very intuitive. I’m very thankful that I found this course, A+++
